Question
Hello! In the office we have a fire extinguisher OУ-2. It was purchased in December, 2006. We have a certificate for a fire extinguisher. Annually we conduct instruction relating to the fire safety measures, with an entry in the log, and examination of the fire extinguisher (with an entry in the register made by the responsible person). There is one question: is the examination of the validity period of the extinguisher made by weight, or we need to annually apply to the organization for any conclusions (of course, on a paying basis) relating to the validity period of the fire extinguisher? Thank you.
Answer
Hello. You are absolutely right, the examination of the fire extinguisher shall be carried out by weight of the charge once per year. This examination can be performed by the responsible person, but the requirements of the fire safety inspectors in different regions may be different. There is one mandatory requirement to perform recharging of the fire extinguishers in the specialized organization once every 5 years. Other information relating to the fire-fighting equipment is available here: www.obereg.su

Question
We have the hot rolled I-beams 60Ш4 with the required fire resistance limit of 90 minutes and compound OBEREG-OMV, version 1. The average thickness of the coating is 914. Is it enough to get this fire resistance limit?
Answer
For the I-beam 60Ш4 the given metal thickness is 11.92 mm (maximum treatment perimeter). For the fire resistance limit R 90 it is necessary to ensure the thickness of dry level of 0.72 mm. The consumption rate of fire retardant paint OBEREG-OMV in this case is 1.35 kg/square meter (excluding process losses). In your case the thickness of coating provides the required fire resistance limit.

Question
Please tell me, what are the lowest temperatures in an exposed position at which it is possible to use the fire-retardant paint for metal and wooden surfaces?
Answer
For the low temperatures we recommend to use the fire-retardant paint OBEREG-OMV (version 2) - on an organic basis. The paint application is possible at up to -25*C. For more information see the operating manual: http://zpo-obereg.ru/instructions/-/id/22/.
